Microblogging is a fairly new term being used online and some of you are probably wondering what it means to ‘microblog’. It’s a fairly simple term and idea. Micoblogging is like blogging but really only to share thoughts, moments in life, photos, links, ideas… etc. Microblogging is for you to show who you are in small doses and give the reader an idea of your thought process. It’s really that simple! Some well known ideas of microblogging that you’ve heard of is Twitter and Facebook status updates, but there are rough ideas because they are more just status updates about your current moment.

Now, how do you get started? Well, there are many options out there today, but the best and prettiest (in my opinion) is a site called Tumblr. Tumblr is a microblogging site that let’s you write your ideas, share photos, share a chat, comment and interact with the Tumblr community. People can follow you and get updated when you post something new. Like I said before, Tumblr is the prettiest and easy to use; but there are more options:

You’re probably thinking, why would you want to microblog when you already have a blog? Here’s my attempt at an analogy, it’s like taking a two-hour afternoon drive around the countryside after driving an hour and a half from work. You do it because it is fun, and you do it because you want to feel like it’s an expression of yourself. I have a tumblr microblog and it’s pretty random, but it’s fun and people see a less professional side of me.
